I am interested in the factors influencing nucleotide repeat instability and its role in neurodegenerative disease development. I am also examining organisms which naturally possess such repeats in large numbers to explore possible mechanisms preventing repeat-induced toxicity.

I did my PhD in Dr. Gregory Jedd’s lab from the National University of Singapore. My graduate work focused on lineage-specific adaptive features in the Fungi, including a protein-based gravity sensor and a protoplasmic clotting factor which instantaneously gels the protoplasm upon cellular injuries.
